The Blue BI Oasis and Pollinator Monitoring
The Blue BI Oasis is a dedicated space for safeguarding biodiversity and pollinating insects. Located in Veneto, it features a technological beehive contributing to a significant research project on bees and other pollinators. Bees are crucial bioindicators, and their observation provides valuable data on environmental health.
The Importance of Pollination
Pollination is an essential ecosystem service provided by nature, and pollinating insects – including honeybees, wild bees, butterflies, bumblebees, and others – play a key role. 90% of wild plants and 70% of our food crops depend on pollinators for reproduction.
Hive-Tech Technology for Biomonitoring
The biomonitoring hive adopted by Blue BI is equipped with 3Bee’s Hive-Tech technology, an IoT sensor that allows detailed monitoring of the health of approximately 300,000 bees while analyzing environmental parameters relevant to surrounding biodiversity.
Environmental and Social Impact
By adopting the hive, Blue BI achieves not only environmental but also social impact. The partnership with 3Bee supports the beekeeper managing the hive and ensures continuous monitoring of the 300,000 honeybees’ health using advanced technology.
